REPORT

It’s been a fantastic day. We had a great time, and all participants gave their best. You could really feel the positive energy and how seriously they took the competition—not just to win, but especially to help clean up the city and raise awareness about a major issue we face as a society: littering in our natural environment, which causes serious harm to our ecosystem, harm to natural ecosystems, economy, and even our own health. One thing SPOGOMI is teaching us is that no country is free from this problem, and we’re committed to continuing to raise awareness about it.

COMMENT

The Xipa Team is made up of Remei, Chaiya, and Sisco—three people from Alcover (Southern Catalonia) who share a love for nature and a deep concern for the conservation of natural spaces. A few months ago, we had the chance to take part in the SPOGOMI event in Reus, highly motivated by this innovative and fun competition that combines appealing elements of sports, competition, and social responsibility. By participating, we became aware of the large amount of waste we produce, which made us more conscious of the serious problem it poses for humanity and our planet. We realized that SPOGOMI gave us a great opportunity to enjoy activities that are not usually considered fun, while also raising social awareness.
