REPORT

The UK qualififier was held across the parkland, football pitches, waterways and residential streets around the historic Hackney Marshes. Teams were made up of families as well as friends, and a group of dedicated litter pickers who definitely had the most expereince. The teams all started in good spirits, under bright weather, and returned tired and mucky with over 400kg of trash. After weighing and calculating scores, the winners were presented with certificates, detailing their achievement, as well as a giant plane ticket taking them all the way to the world cup in TOKYO!

We are the Trash Talkers, representing the UK for Spogomi 2025. Our team members are Hannah Terrell, Bella Spencer and Hannah Hunter. We come from Scotland and the north of England, met and live together in London, and are so excited to be heading to Tokyo for the World Cup. We are new to the world of competitive litter picking, but our love of competition, strong communication and team bond helped us to win the UK heats. We’re not afraid of a challenge, and come prepared to talk trash and pick up litter. The thing we are looking forward to most is meeting other teams from around the world - we can’t wait to hear people’s stories of how they got involved.
